Hatenkou Yuugi – 01

Let’s all hold hands!

One day a girl called Anadis Rahzel gets kicked out of her house because her father says that it will be better for her to travel the world instead of staying home all the time. She decides to somehow fix the problem and comes across a man named Alzeido. His appearance and personality suggests that he holds many dark secrets, and that he is a dangerous person to approach. Rahzel doesn’t take this into consideration and she hastily persuades him to come with her. Subsequently, the two find themselves entangled in a ghost mission. While Rahzel is wondering about how she has so many issues when it comes to money, she discovers that Alzeido had somehow acquired his earnings by using illegal methods. When she witnesses him trying to take a man’s fortune, she demands that he release the victim, and so he does. Since the innocent man doesn’t want them to rob any more and notices that they need money, he gives them data on how to earn a good pay by completing assignments.

Hence, now Rahzel and Alzeido are standing before a ghost. Rahzel tries to grab the spirit’s attention, but she’s too busy explaining why she is here in the first place. Not really paying any notice to what she is saying, Rahzel and Alzeido learn that the ghost Noma had passed away while waiting in the present area for her loved one to come. Alzeido comes up with an idea that maybe her loved one is betraying her and Noma doesn’t agree, nor does she like the suggestion, so she runs off. Rahzel wants to collect more information so the two go to eat, where they also meet the person who is paying them to do the job. With implications that the employer is possibly the man whom Noma is waiting for proves correct, as well as the fact that he is betraying her. The two leave and continue with their task.

As they leave the mansion, the employer has his men pursue them. Rahzel and Alzeido wonder what Noma would do if she ever found out that her lover had betrayed her, and Rahzel says that she would kill him if it was her. This has Alzeido wondering whether if anyone had ever betrayed Rahzel. She remembers a bit about her history and that she had been betrayed, but to Alzeido she denies such nonsense. He, however, can already see through the lie and he tells her that she shouldn’t let faulty words slip from her tongue. Rahzel is all by herself and two men decide to surprise attack her, however a voice stops them from doing so. In the room she is renting, Rahzel thinks about how little she knows of Alzeido in the time they have been together. She then wonders aloud about what feelings ghosts experience, and is answered by a familiar voice from before. This voice comes from a man named Baroqueheat who leaves to fulfill a task Rahzel has him undertake.

Rahzel and Alzeido meet Noma once more and they tell her that her lover will never be coming for her. Since she is still confused and upset, she only sees this information as a lie and so she tries to attack them. However, she is no match against Rahzel since she is a magic-user. Positions change when Noma has Alzeido held captive. Soon afterwards, Noma pays a respectful visit to her lover, who cringes in terror at her sight. As she leaves she traps him in the room and comments on how foolish she is; only shortly later realizing how foolish she has been as well.

At the time when Alzeido had been taken as a hostage by Noma, Rahzel claimed that they shared no connection and that he was only accompanying her. She then suggests that they all celebrate. This does take place and fireworks light the night sky from above the mansion, and finally Noma fades away in peace. Baroqueheat manages to find Rahzel and Alzeido once again. Alzeido asks if Rahzel wants a promise between him and her as a way of creating a connection, and she says that she only needs one promise: that the three of them will continue their lives in happiness.

Thoughts: This episode was nice and fun to watch. It almost seems like Ghost Hunt, almost, but I still think Ghost Hunt is much better. It’s hard to blog this anime since there appears to be a lot of time-skip. However, I really enjoy watching anime with lots of time-skip, just like Baccano! It’d be hard to write, of course, but watching it is pleasurable. I’m looking forward to the next episode and hopefully it will be just as brilliant.
