Zippy Ziggy Manga – Chapter 01

Kukukuku…

It’s night and in the streets a thief runs off with a poor lady’s wallet. A crowd chases him but he’s too fast. He runs into an alleyway where a teenager is just strolling along. He watches as the robber slips on dog shit, hits his head against a pole and a sign, and struggle to keep balance, but fails, thus stumbling to the ground, reaching the state of unconsciousness. The teenager thinks to himself that such a humiliating moment for a man would be even more fun if he had friends accompanying him. The boy notices a wallet on the ground and he picks it up to examine it. At that point, the crowd who is pursuing the robber arrives and what they see makes them all praise the boy for his courage in stopping the man. The boy stands up and tells the excited mob that he would sacrifice his body to make a difference to society. A police officer asks for the kid’s name so that he can reward him, but he walks off without replying. As he leaves, the crowd locates his wallet and looks into its contents. They find out that the boy’s name is Gan Shinji and he attends Haka College. While the crowd are analyzing the ID card further, Shinji is hiding behind the street corner, celebrating quietly because he had intentionally dropped his wallet so the people could discover it.

The next day at school, all the girls gather around Shinji and remark on how strong and brave he is. The continuous praising from the students and teachers continue all through class. When Shinji is finally alone in a cubicle, he laughs evilly and thanks the stupid robber who slipped on dog shit. He walks to his locker and a stash of love letters fall out. Two underclassmen note how jealous they are of Shinji, and that because of him they don’t have any girlfriends. Rish appears at the doorway and warns Shinji that by tomorrow all his fame will vanish. He takes out a love letter he received from a 2nd Year Madonna Hana, who is a popular girl whose beauty outweighs all the other chicks. Shinji pretends he isn’t jealous and acts cool in front of Rish, but once he leaves, his irritation reveals itself in his demonic behavior as he chews on the edge of a vending machine. He decides to think things over with a cup of coffee, but doesn’t dare drink it when he notices a cockroach floating inside it. He takes it out and gives a drink to Rish, who he meets on his way out.

Later that day, Rish goes to meet his secret admirer, but he can’t greet her properly and instead vomits all over her. The entire school hears about the incident and during class, Rish runs into Shinji and accuses him of putting something weird in his drink the other time. No one believes Rish and three guys bash him up, but Shinji tells them to stop. He says he doesn’t act trust-worthy enough and that is why Rish blames him for the incident. All the girls tell Shinji not to worry, and of course, Shinji is just putting on the “cool” act to impress everyone. Later, a student enters the classroom and informs everyone that Hosun from their class is being bullied by their upperclassmen. Naturally, everyone looks towards Shinji, expecting him to run all the way into the mountains and save Hosun. This forces Shinji to intrude the situation because he cannot lie in front of all these people who believe in him. He really doesn’t want to go, but he has to anyway. When he gets there, three thugs are attacking Hosun and have already stripped him of his clothes. Hosun is knocked out unconscious shortly after telling the upperclassmen who Shinji is. Shinji is about to leave but then a girl appears, so Shinji is forced to remain where he is. The thugs tell her to back off because this is no place for a girl. She insults them and they all go in to attack her, but she throws them off easily and manages to beat them all. Shinji is completely choked on words.

Thoughts: Absolutely a hilarious K-Manga! I never knew Korean manga could be readable, but I guess I was wrong after reading this chapter. It’s totally entertaining and fully interesting and funny how Shinji is such a fake. Inside, he truly is one hell of a cruel bastard, but in order to keep his reputation, he has to do so many things he doesn’t want to. I really loved it and the pictures are decent, but not very high-standard. I’m so looking forward to the next chapter. I don’t think I will blog any more of it though since it’s not very popular, plus I don’t have enough time.

  1. Omg, I read this and it’s so fucking funny! I was laughing full-on, man! I love Shinji – he’s so stupid yet smart, haha. Well, girls like Sue or whatever her name is, are alright too, I suppose.

  2. LOL, I laughed a lot too because Shinji is just one lucky yet cocky guy who’s such a phony. It’s funny how in reality he’s really this evil bastard that doesn’t give a shit for others, so yeah. I wasn’t right about this not being popular – a lot of Manga fans seem to know it and love it. I just don’t have time to blog it though.

  3. Hey, I read this too and yeah, it IS really famous, well, kinda. I love Shinji too, but I love Rish more ‘cos he’s even more of a retard (or less, I really can’t tell the difference from two idiots).

  4. Rish? That’s not really random, but it’s not what I expected either, lol. It’s true, no one can tell the difference between two retards.
