Ganta and Shiro finish their anpan before Shiro leaves to return home. Meanwhile, Tamaki is in a conference with some important-looking men. One of them tells Tamaki off for going too far during the dog race, having killed so many criminals, and even those who weren’t even in death row. Tamaki says that they need money in order to keep the “retched egg” sealed within Deadman Wonderland. Shortly after demanding that they bring the director here, Tamaki gets a phone call that the “retched egg” has escaped. In his cell, Ganta writes his will, believing that today will be the day that he dies. You enters the room and introduces himself. He hands Ganta a candy, explaining that it was his fault for losing the other one after all. At the same time, he gets recaps of secret meetings with Tamaki, who requested You keep an eye on Ganta in exchange for Cast Points. Tamaki is in a room akin to a laboratory where he finds out that the Mother Goose System has just failed. He orders the men behind him to restart everything as soon as possible before the “retched egg” laughs. Striding in a hallway with a smirk is the red crimson man.
Outside, Ganta and You spot an ice-cream stall, and You suggests that on a hot day like this, they should buy some. Ganta is reminded of the past when he and his friends brought ice-cream and ate them together. He is in tears when suddenly his chest begins to ache just like the time the red crimson man put a gem in his heart, and when he and Shiro were about to be squashed to death. He gazes at the clock tower as the handle strikes twelve, and to his shock he sees the red man standing there, grinning. The man jumps down from the building and attacks everyone with a tornado that completely slices parts of people and divides their body. Ganta doesn’t want his friends to die anymore after seeing You get hurt, and blood starts swirling out of his body. Tamaki stares harder into the computer screen and can’t believe his eyes. Ganta screams out that he cannot forgive the red man and attacks him with a sphere of blood. It is a direct hit, but that doesn’t seem to bother or stop the red man from grinning, and he greets Ganta by calling him a wood-pecker. The red man escapes despite Ganta’s calling and Tamaki is amazed that just then the computer displayed two “branches of sin”. You is frightened and comes to believing that both Ganta and the red man are monsters. Speaking to no one in particular, Tamaki says: “Welcome to the stage of blood and carnage — to the real Deadman Wonderland…!”
Thoughts: One word: Awesome. More blood and killing, so I must agree, so far Deadman Wonderland is one of the best manga I have ever read. Sorry for the delay, by the way. For some reason, I couldn’t download chapter 04 or 05 until now, of course. Anyway, so it seems You is bad and that Ganta is also like the red man. I do wonder why the red man put the gem in Ganta in the first place. Interesting how he’s called the wood-pecker. I’m curious to know what the “retched egg” is doing in Deadman Wonderland as well, and who Tamaki really is. No Shiro this time except in the beginning, where she waves a good-bye with that cute smile of hers, lol.
