Jing: King of Bandits – 01

King of Bandits?!

A crew of skilled robbers arrive in the Capital City of Thieves, including the famous Bandit King, who is disguising among the mob. The mayor of the town sits impatiently in his tower full of jewelery and spies upon the new arrivals through a telescope. Desperately, he searches for the Bandit King, but with no idea of what the man looks like, he soon decides to give up. Jing enters the town and his comrade, a talking bird named Kir, overhear a man telling his friend that the Bandit King sent the mayor a message that informs he will steal the mayor’s treasured “Double Mermaids”. Kir complains that there’s hardly any women in this place and Jing spots an old lady among the crowd. Someone pushes into Jing and steals his possessions, but Jing easily stops him and reclaims one of his precious items. Later on the old woman he saw earlier appears and explains that Cognac, the mayor of this town, only owns one of the Double Mermaids. She tells him to go meet a theif called Vodka who frequently stays at Dragon Pow. Jing visits the bar and after impressing Vodka, the thief believes that Jing wants him to become his mentor.

Eating out at a place near Cognac’s tower, Jing finds a large “bird” that can no longer fly. The old woman comes again and after the bird lays an egg, which is taken away to Cognac’s tower, the old woman comments that Cognac always seperates a mother and her child. A tear falls down her face and Jing realizes something. Telling the bird that Cognac is going to eat her egg, she gets angry and starts to fly. Jing rides on her along with Krir and the old woman. The bird destroys the wall to Cognac’s tower and saves her child. Meanwhile, Cognac tells Jing that since he’s waiting for the Bandit King, he doesn’t have time to fight with him. So he orders a giant nine-eyed monster to deal with Jing, but Jing beats the monster after Kir becomes a weapon on his arm. In the centre is one of the Double Mermaids. The girl inside the glass breaks free and the old woman runs to her. Her mask falls off to reveal a beautiful woman. The mother and daughter embrace and the daughter sheds a single tear that transforms into crystal. Jing and Kir leaves the two be with a baffled Cognac. It is then on his departure that Cognac realizes that Jing is the King of Bandits.

Thoughts: A very decent and nice-flowing episode. It was funny and entertained me, but not much really happened. I expected more action, at the least. Since I know most of what’s going to happen in this series, I’m going to definitely continue watching it. Jing is such a cool guy and it’s hilarious how those two women were all over Krir. The pictures were an OK job, but I’ve certainly seen better. It was pretty lame most of the time, especially with the moments where there was just utter silence and staring. I knew that old lady had something to do with the Double Mermaids since why else would she be there? I can’t say I’m loving this anime yet, but surely the next episode will be better. I know this series is pretty old, but not much people know it and hardly anyone blogs it, or no one blogs it at all. So I decided to be one of the few, or the first, to actually blog this series since I really really love it. The first episode doesn’t appeal to many, nor I, but the next ones will d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y. Sorry about the snapshots/screenshots — they’re crappy and there’s a lot of Jing, lol. Ya, I love him already. I can’t wait to download and watch the next episode, and I can gurantee you that there’s a pretty good-looking and hot chick in it ^______^.
